The Town of Westport passed a single-use plastics ordinance to help keep single-use food service containers out of our environment. Specifically, the ordinance prohibits “the sale and distribution by food service businesses of single-use food service containers containing primarily of plastic (including blown polystyrene and expanded and extruded foams, such as Styrofoam™), including (but not limited to):

  • Cups
  • Clamshells
  • Bowls
  • Trays
  • Plates
  • Containers
  • All non-biodegradable straws (unless needed for a medical or physical conditions)
  • All non-biodegradable stirrers”
