With energy costs on the rise and extreme weather increasing electricity demand, many Westport residents are looking for effective ways to lower utility bills, improve home energy efficiency, and live more sustainably—without sacrificing comfort.

In response, Sustainable Westport, in partnership with the Town of Westport and People’s Action for Clean Energy (PACE), has launched the HeatSmart Westport program.

What Is HeatSmart Westport?

HeatSmart Westport is a program that helps Westport residents learn about 3 steps to getting getting energy smart:

1. Get a Home Energy Solutions (HES) audit from an Energize CT-certified technician

   • Normally $75 (or no-cost for income-eligible households)

   • No-cost audits are available for customers who schedule their service by 3/31/26 and have their visit completed by 4/30/26.

2. Improve home insulation and air sealing to prevent energy loss

3. Switch to an energy-efficient heat pump for heating and cooling

What is a Home Energy Solutions Audit?

A Home Energy Solutions audit is a professional, in-home service that identifies where your house is wasting energy and makes recommendations to address those issues. During the visit, energy specialists may test for leaks around doors, windows, and ductwork, check the performance of your insulation, and/or evaluate your heating, cooling, and appliances. They’ll make immediate improvements, like sealing air leaks, and provide tailored recommendations for bigger upgrades. The result: lower energy bills, greater comfort, and a more efficient home—whether you’ve lived there for years or just moved in.

Who Is Eligible?

The program is open to all Westport residents—homeowners and renters. Even if you’ve had an HES audit in the past, you’re eligible again if it was completed before 2019.
